GMS Laser "How To ..."
G0 GMS Laser
G0 Laser controls comprise two electronic boxes sitting in the G0 electronics
cage at level two of the counting house. These boxes are placed in the second
rack starting from the entrance to the cage and are located at positions 4
and 5.
- Make sure the following connections are done:
- Power supply to the box at position 4 (box 4 onward) is plugged in
in the power strip
lying on the floor at the back of the rack and the power is 'ON'. Note that box
5 doesn't need to be powered up.
- One 9-pin ribbon cable for the motor control and one 15-pin ribbon
cable for the mask status are hooked up in the back of the box 4.
- A cable with banana connectors carrying motor current is hooked up
in the back of the box 4.
- A 9-pin cable for the GMS laser control is hooked up on the front
of box 5.
- Power up box 4 using toggle switch with 'POWER' label on the left
of the front panels.
- The part of interest on box 5 icludes three LEDs, a red push button labelled
as 'FIRE' and a
toggle switch with label 'INTERLOCK'.
- After the box is powered the green LED, indicating that the power to the
laser down in the hall is 'ON', and the yellow LED ,indicating that the laser
proper is 'ON' and warmed up, should come 'ON'.
- Move the toggle switch up and press the red button.
The red LED should come 'ON' and stay 'ON' indicating that the laser will fire
upon the reception of a 'CMD' signal.
- On box 4 there are two white push buttons and two sets of two black hex
switches
which no one should touch except Aamer Rauf, Paul King or Steve Pate.
- Move the toggle switch with label 'motor' up to turn the motor current on.
The speed of the motor can be controlled by changing the motor current using a
potentiometer knob.
- You should see five green LEDs blinking---one LED labelled 'MASK' and the
other four LEDs showing the position of the mask. Note that if any of the LEDs
stays 'ON' it might mean that the motor is not running. You should contact
either Aamer Rauf or Steve Pate or Paul King.
- GMS is all set to roll on!
